It does mean DHA deserves more attention than the tiny decorative amount sometimes found on labels.
B6 is different. Vitamin B6 is a normal pregnancy nutrient, but its main buyer relevant role is nausea. ACOG says vitamin B6 is a safe over the counter treatment that may be tried first for nausea and vomiting of pregnancy, with doxylamine added if B6 alone does not relieve symptoms.4 That makes B6 useful, but a prenatal with B6 is not automatically a better prenatal. Many nausea regimens use B6 in divided doses, separate from the once daily prenatal format. If you are vomiting or cannot keep your prenatal down, forcing a large multivitamin because it contains B6 can backfire.
The audience factor that drives the choice
The best prenatal for a person trying to conceive is not always the best prenatal for a person eight weeks pregnant and nauseated. Diet matters too. A person eating iron rich foods, fortified grains, eggs, dairy, and low mercury seafood has different gaps than someone eating a restricted diet.
